• Our Preschoolers created a movie called The Little Nuggets Movie of Feelings. As part of FXW’s project based learning approach, children in the Little Nuggets classroom showed an interest learning more about feelings outside of just happy or sad. While mindfulness and feelings are frequently talked about as part of everyday language, their teachers followed the children’s expressed curiosity and delved deeper into this topic by reading books about feelings and introduced new ones. This helped the children come up with a longer list of feelings familiar to them and led them to want teach others what they learned by creating a movie. Each student picked the feeling they wanted to act out and their ideas inspired the scenes for the movie and so “The Little Nuggets Movie of Feelings” was created.
  • As part of their year-long partnership with Misericordia, Heart of Mercy, our second graders ran a successful, full-service Post Office at OSP. Each student had a specific job to help the mailroom run, including selling stamps, processing and sorting mail and delivering mail across the building. This year hundreds of letters were processed by our young postal workers raising $1,445.68 to benefit Misericordia and carrying on a 20-year tradition. Watch a video of our “postal workers” in action.
  • We now have a 3D printer on both campuses.  Thanks goes to 5th grade teacher Maggie Madden whose friend donated a Makerbot printer last spring and to Shelly Mujtaba, parent of preschooler Aadi Mujtaba, and his employer Autodesk for their donation of a brand new Makerbot 5th Generation Replicator 2. We’re starting to put them to good use!
