It’s a busy tech week at FXW. All student iPads should now be working–students should be able to install apps that their teachers are requesting, be able to find the content for their classes in Canvas, and be able to use apps like Google Drive, Notability, and Pages. If your child continues to have iPad issues, encourage them to come into the IT Office right away. We’re here to help!
Additional notes for this week:
- Apple will be rolling out the iOS8 software update for iPads. This update could appear anytime starting Wednesday (9/17). Students need to do this software update at home by going to Settings > General > Software Update (see below) If they have any issues doing the update, have them come to the IT office, and we will be happy to help them with it. Be patient if it doesn’t show up on Wednesday–it will show up soon! *If prompted to set a passcode (it might make you), set the passcode to 2014.
- 8th grade students will be bringing home bluetooth keyboards on Wednesday (9/17). They were given instructions on how to pair their keyboard with their iPad. They should pair their keyboards at home in preparation for classes on Thursday. Again if there are any issues, we can help them. If the iPad and keyboard don’t pair after the first attempt, try again! Sometimes it takes a couple of attempts to make it happen.
- Parents, make sure you set up how (i.e. text, email) you would like to receive notifications from Canvas and how frequently (i.e. immediately, once a day, etc.) you would like those notifications to come to you. Information on setting notifications in Canvas can be found on this page to the right under Resources > Family Information on Canvas.
