Dear OSP Families:
Welcome to a new year of Children’s Liturgy of the Word (LOW) at Old St. Patrick’s Church! My name is Katie Mooney, and I am a member of OSP, an FXW parent of three daughters, and the new coordinator for our LOW program. I am pleased to invite your preschool to second grade child to join me on the dates listed below for a child friendly view on the readings of the day. At the 9:30 a.m. Liturgy on the selected dates, we will meet in the back of the church by the baptismal font. After opening prayers, your child will be escorted behind the altar to experience “Children’s Liturgy of the Word” – prayers, the readings of the day, and activities to support your child’s understanding of the Gospel message. Your child will rejoin you after the homily and share in the rest of the mass.
During the 2014-2015 school year, we will meet for Children’s Liturgy of the Word on the following dates:
- September 7 & 21
- October 5 & 26
- November 2 & 9
- December 7 & 14
- January 4 & 25
- February 1 & 22
- March 1 & 22
- April 12 & 26
- May 3
No registration is necessary for LOW. All are welcome! I would also love your support as an adult or teen (grades 7-12) volunteer for LOW, and ask that you consider joining me as a volunteer for one, two, or more LOW sessions across the school year. Sign-ups will be limited to 3-5 adult volunteers and 2 teen volunteers per mass, and all adult volunteers must be Virtus trained (please contact me via the information below if you would like to volunteer but are not yet Virtus trained). All volunteer sign-ups will occur through Sign-Up Genius and can be accessed at www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0F4DA4A823AAFB6-lowvolunteers
Thank you in advance for your support!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns about this year’s LOW program. I am looking forward to a wonderful year with OSP’s beautiful young people!
