Welcome Kim Milano to Room 22

I am very excited to join room 22!

The next few months are sure to be busy as we explore and grow together. I can’t wait to learn more about your child but first let me share a few things about myself. I grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago until I was 11 years old. My family and I then had an incredible opportunity to move to New Zealand, where I attended middle school and high school. After high school I moved back to Chicago and earned my undergraduate degree in Social Science at DePaul University. Before deciding on my career change, I worked in market research. I organized and facilitated market focus groups. Although most of the focus groups involved adults, there were some that involved children. As I gained experience in facilitating focus groups, I realized that I had a passion to teach children.

I went back to DePaul University and earned my graduated degree in education. I conducted my student teaching at The Latin School and worked in their summer camp for two summers. I then taught preschool for two years at St. Hilary Elementary School.

I left St. Hilary School to pursue full time care for my two children. My son, Michael, is now 18 years old and my daughter, Mia, is 15 years old. As you all know, raising children is challenging as well as a very rewarding experience. It is amazing to watch them learn and grow!
The FXW school community has been very supportive and has encouraged me to explore and expand my teaching philosophy and commitment to education. It is an honor to be part of this outstanding school and I look forward to working with all of you.

Sincerely,
Kim Milano
