Wake Up Jaguars!
Our unique closed circuit system allows us to broadcast live video from both campuses, with special features, like:
- Families on the broadcast. We invite FXW families to lead us in our morning prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. This helps us celebrate our remarkable diversity; we have heard prayers in Croatian, French, Spanish and even Latin! The families also lead us in quiet time, which allows students to lift up the names of family members who are in special need for prayer.
- Birthday greetings. The student-hosts interview students and teachers on their birthdays, and we find out how families celebrate! Students often offer “shout-outs” to their classmates and siblings.
Special events. There was dancing as we “Backed the Bid,” and previews from upcoming student productions, interviews of our sports teams, and publicity for service projects. Student videographers film the Invention Convention, the celebration of The Day of the Dead, our visit to a homeless shelter and the Science Lab!
- Broadcast
"Wake Up, Jaguars! We are coming to you this sunny morning from the broadcast studio at the Holy Name Campus…” This is how the day begins at FXW! Students produce the show, write and edit copy, film and edit stories and are the on-air talent.
The broadcast fosters unity between our campuses, and is a great way to develop writing, technical skills and poise. Parents and friends are invited to view the broadcast any day from the lobbies of our HNC and OSP campuses. “Back to you, HNC!”
