Parents at the Heart
Parents at the Heart (P.A.T.H.) is a committee that supports the mission of the school by working with faculty, staff and families to enhance and encourage spirituality through personal support and community building events. PATH also provides an opportunity for children and parents to utilize their resources and talents to help others within our FXW community.
Each class has a parent room representative that works with the teacher to organize support to families during times of illness, death, births and any life-altering event where the family could use a Good Samaritan. Support can include: prayers, meals, carpools, play-dates etc.
The committee also hosts four key family events each year: “Fun Fest”, “Grandparents Day”, “Mardi Gras” and the Mothers Day Luncheon.
Respect and love of family are among the many values we hold dear at The Frances Xavier Warde School. FXW Grandparents near and far are very involved whether its through volunteering, attending our Grandparent’s Day celebration, serving on the Grandparent’s Committee or just staying in touch through our e-newsletter.
Each November, we host more than 500 loving grandparents of children in our preschool through third grades. Every classroom has a special presentation for the grandparents and special friends, and we hold a Mass of Thanksgiving. In 2010 Fr. Hurley encouraged everyone to “give the best of their faith, whether it is Catholic or Protestant or Jewish or Muslim – lean into these children with the best of your faith and your traditions.”
The Parents At The Heart committee sponsors a Mother’s Day Luncheon in May each year. Mothers and grandmothers of our students gather at the Old St. Pat’s campus for camaraderie, a guest speaker and entertainment from our students. Marsha Serlin, a long time friend of FXW spoke at the 2012 luncheon with a Tip of the Hat to all mothers.
