Our Structure

The Parent Group is a volunteer-administered organization whose leadership consists of an Advisory Board.

The Advisory Board is headed by two Co-chairs who serve staggered two-year terms to insure continuity in leadership.

The Advisory Board also includes a Treasurer, Secretary, Volunteer Coordinator, Communications Coordinators, and Room Parent Coordinators.

A Committee structure assists in facilitating activities and projects across the school year and includes Appreciation Breakfasts for Teachers and Staff, Art Volunteers in the Classroom, Book Fairs, Merchandise Sales, New Families Reception & Welcome, Service Projects, and newer activities, such as the International Festival and the Bike & Hike.

You must be a parent who has a student enrolled at FXW in order to serve on the Advisory Board and/or Committees. Terms of service are typically two years in length.

It is essential to begin each school year as fully staffed as possible. A call for volunteers to serve in available posts on the Advisory Board and Committees is issued in the spring for the following school year. Appointments are made by the Co-chairs in June. If any posts remain unfilled, another call for volunteers is issued in August with appointments made directly by the Co-chairs.

The Parent Group is a self-supported organization. Funding for our projects and activities is largely derived from Merchandise Sales or a nominal registration fee for select activities to assist in defraying costs.
